ArmInfo.The Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA), in a statement submitted to the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe (US Helsinki Commission) in connection with the upcoming reform hearings in Armenia, indicated that <the surest way for the United States> to support Armenia's democratic progress by further strengthening the Armenian- American strategic partnership.
The Organization states that a hearing in the Helsinki Commission entitled <Hearing on Reforms in Armenia: An Assessment of Progress and US Policy Opportunities> Held on Tuesday, October 22, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., in the Canon House office building, room 210.
In an ANCA statement to be presented at the hearing, Director of Government Affairs Teresa Yrimyan welcomed centuries-old partnership between the USA and Armenia. Yerimyan, pointing to the wide interaction that has developed between the United States and the Republic of Armenia since the declaration of independence by Armenia, emphasized the need to conclude new agreements and arrangements that will renew and ensure the long-term strategic partnership between the two countries.
In this context, she welcomed the adoption by the US House of Representatives Speyer Amendment, which additionally allocated $ 40 million to Armenia to support democratic development in fiscal year 2020. It also indicates that the ANCA in its statement advocates US leadership in future-oriented bilateral initiatives, including a new tax treaty between the United States and Armenia, a new agreement with the Millennium Challenge Corporation, focused on STEAM and several others.
