Nikol Pashinyan: The military operations of the Turkish armed forces  in Syria will further complicate the situation in this country.

ArmInfo. The military operations of the Turkish armed forces in Syria will further  complicate the situation in this country. A statement was made on October 10 at a meeting of the Government of Armenia, by  Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

The head of government appealed to the international community  to  take proactive steps to prevent these illegal actions that could  exacerbate the humanitarian crisis in Syria. He also called for the  protection of the rights of citizens of this country, including  national minorities, throughout the Turkish-Syrian border.  Nikol  Pashinyan emphasized that Armenia is successfully carrying out a  humanitarian mission in the Syrian city of Aleppo, adding that this  mission will continue.

The RA Prime Minister proposed today after a government meeting to  hold closed discussions on this issue in order to exchange opinions  on the current situation in the north of Syria, possible developments  and the position of Armenia. The Turkish army is conducting a major  operation against Kurdish militias in northern Syria. The day before,  Turkish bombers attacked the positions of the Kurds. By evening,  Turkish artillery was engaged. A few hours after the air raids and  shelling, Turkey launched a ground attack. The purpose of the  operation is to oust Kurdish militia units from the northern regions  of Syria and create a "security zone" there. Two million Syrian  refugees are planned to be accommodated in this zone. Donald Trump,  who had previously practically given the green light to this  offensive, having led the US military out of the region, already  after the start of the air raids called Turkey's operation against  the Syrian Kurds "a bad idea." At the request of France, the UN  Security Council discuss this operation.
