On October 3, the head of the Armenia-US Parliamentary Friendship Group Lilit Makunts met with the Member of the U.S. House of Representatives, the Co- Chair of the Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues Frank Pallone. According to the press service of the parliament, during the meeting, the guest shared his impressions of recent meetings and his visit to Artsakh.
Lilit Makunts mentioned the priorities of the National Assembly, the need for parliament as a democratic institution. She also spoke about the problems in the judicial system of Armenia, the need for reform in the police, and also emphasized the importance of support from American colleagues.
The MP also spoke about the steps taken towards the economic development of Armenia, investment promotion programs and issues related to freedom of speech.
Makunts noted that Pallone made a valuable contribution to recognition of the Armenian Genocide, as well as in a number of activities related to Armenia and Artsakh. The meeting also discussed issues related to the upcoming visit of the US-Armenian parliamentary friendship group.
