ArmInfo. Currently, about 300 trucks remain at the Upper Lars checkpoint. On October 2, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Khachatryan stated this from the rostrum of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia. According to him, five days ago at the checkpoint there was an accumulation of 1300 trucks due to instrumental control, which led to a decrease in the throughput of the checkpoint, moreover, not only Armenian but also cars, and vehicles from other states.
According to the minister, It is due to the use of the new weight and overall complex, which created certain problems. "However, as a result of the sides' operational actions, it was possible to significantly reduce the scale of the clusters, and there are all the prerequisites for the problem to be completely eliminated within the next two days," the minister said, adding that restrictions also apply in Armenia, they are aimed at maintaining automobile roads in good condition. The minister called on Armenian drivers not to overload vehicles in order to avoid new problems.
To recall, the Upper Lars customs post on the Georgian Military Highway carries out instrumental control of passing freight vehicles, which halved the throughput. On September 19, at the Upper Lars customs post, the "Rubezh-M" weight-and-size complex was put into operation, allowing for not only documentary, but also instrumental transport control. As a result, the time spent on monitoring increased. No more than 170 cars are produced per day, and 350-400 passed before its introduction. Some drivers, knowing that their cars are overloaded, do not enter the checkpoint and impede the entry of other vehicles.
