In the presence of the Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe - Gabriela Battini-Dragoni, on October 2, the Armenian Permanent Representative to the organization Paruyr Hovhannisyan from the RA estate signed a Protocol amending the Convention for the Protection of Individuals with regard to Automatic Processing of Personal Data.
As the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia reported to ArmInfo, the purpose of the document is to reform and adapt the Convention in force since 1985 to modern conditions, taking into account new challenges in the field of personal data protection.
The Protocol amending the Convention (the only international treaty in this area) addresses threats to privacy arising from the use of new information and communication technologies, and strengthens the mechanism of the convention, guaranteeing its effective implementation.
