ArmInfo. President of the National Assembly of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan received a delegation of the French parliament led by Guy Tesien, chairman of the France-Artsakh friendship circle.
As ArmInfo was informed in the press service of the RA Parliament, Mirzoyan expressed gratitude to the French parliamentarian for visiting Artsakh these days, noting that this assistance is extremely important for Armenia.
In turn, the head of the French delegation shared his impressions of the visit to Artsakh, stressing that it is extremely important for them on the spot familiarize yourself with the living conditions in Nagorno- Karabakh. "It is extremely important for us to see the progress of this small country. Having talked with people, we realized that they want to live peacefully on their land, with strong borders and are ready to even die for this," Tesien said. At the same time, he added that regardless of the threats of Baku, they will continue visits to Artsakh in order to facilitate the peace process and expressed hope that Nagorno- Karabakh will receive international recognition.
Tisien also emphasized that France promotes democratic processes in Armenia. The vice-chairman of the France-Armenia friendship group also touched upon the deepening of inter-parliamentary cooperation, and interaction within the OSCE.
The French delegation also held talks with Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan. Welcoming the members of the delegation, the latter expressed his gratitude for the determination and consistency in deepening and developing the Armenian-French friendship.
At the meeting, the sides touched upon inter-MFA cooperation and interaction within the framework of the International Organization of Francophonie. Mnatsakanyan emphasized that the IOF is a good platform for international and regional cooperation.
At the meeting, the parties touched on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The Armenian Foreign Minister noted that Yerevan highly appreciates the efforts of Paris, as co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, to resolve the conflict.
The meeting also focused on the visit of French parliamentarians to Artsakh. Mnatsakanyan thanked the French parliamentarians for their principled position and determination on human rights issues, noting that Artsakh is primarily people for whom all fundamental human rights and freedoms should be available without discrimination. It was also emphasized that the visit of the French parliamentarians to Artsakh is a demonstration of solidarity with respect to universal human rights.
