ArmInfo.The CSTO will always welcome cooperation with all the former republics of the USSR, not only with Azerbaijan. Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the International Commission of Military Economic Cooperation Yuri Borisov said in an interview with reporters on September 12 in Yerevan referring to the possible membership of Azerbaijan in the CSTO.
"We were once a single family. This also applies to a certain balance of military forces of all the former republics. We are conducting a very balanced and thoughtful policy," Borisov emphasized. Speaking about military-technical cooperation with all countries, and Azerbaijan, in particular, the Deputy Chairman assured that Russia is not interested in stirring up conflicts, but on the contrary will contribute in every way so that the conflict is resolved. "And you know the role that Russia, and in particular, our president, play in this matter," Borisov said.
Meanwhile, to the remark of reporters that Yerevan is categorically against any participation of Azerbaijan in the activities of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, Borisov recalled that decisions in the structure are taken collectively. "Therefore, after appropriate discussions, if the Organization takes the necessity of such a decision, it will be adopted in accordance with the CSTO charter, regulations and rules, "the Russian official summed up.
