ArmInfo. The national settlement of the issue of the operation of the Amulsar mine should be based on a gradual increase in the role of state participation in the management of mines and natural resources. This is stated in the statement of the party "Heritage", circulated on Wednesday, October 11.
"Heritage" Party considers necessary to start the stage of impartial socio-political discussions to clarify the priorities of the state policy of the Republic of Armenia in the field of mining industry, and to minimize the mistakes made by the previous government, as well as the search for mutually acceptable and balanced decisions.
The Heritage party is confident that the national settlement of the situation should be based on a gradual increase in the role of state participation in the management of mines and natural resources.
The party considers 100% privatization of deposits and energy resources by various companies inadmissible, which inevitably led and in the near future will lead to ignoring the state interests of Armenia and the constitutional rights of citizens.
, the Heritage statement said, and it is noted that international experience shows that if there is a 10-25% state share, it is possible to balance the interests of all all parties.
The Amulsar mine is located in the valley of the Arpa and Vorotan rivers, in the immediate vicinity of the spa town of Jermuk, famous for its mineral springs, and not far from the largest freshwater lake in the region, Sevan. Environmentalists fear that the exploitation of the field, during which sodium cyanide will be used, could lead to the oxidation of water in rivers. Contaminated waters will become unsuitable for drinking and irrigation and may cause irreparable harm to the mineral springs of Jermuk and the ecosystem of Sevan.
