ArmInfo. Due to financial difficulties, the Sanitek company, which is the exclusive monopoly operator for sanitation cleaning of the Armenian capital, is not able to pay employees salaries for August. This is stated in the statement of the company following the protest rally of employees held yesterday in front of the Yerevan Municipality, who linked the non-payment of salaries to the municipality's failure to fulfill financial obligations to Sanitek.
The company explained that municipal payments should be made twice a month from the 1st to the 15th day and from the 16th to the 31st day, however for the second half of August there were no transfers from the Mayor's Office. ''For August, the mayor's office of Yerevan was to transfer about 430 million drams. In the first half of August, the Yerevan Municipality transferred 141 million 831 thousand drams to our company, and over this period the Mayor's Office withheld 69 million 546 thousand drams. For the second half of August, no amounts were transferred from the mayor's office. Moreover, the mayor's office did not accept the invoices and executive acts submitted by the company'', the statement said.
Yesterday, the press secretary of Yerevan Municipality Hakob Karapetyan said that in August of this year the company transferred 165.34 million drams and called on the protesters who gathered to clarify the true reasons for the non-payment of wages directly from the Sanitek leadership.
Problems with the removal of household waste in Yerevan began in the summer of 2018, and in the spring of 2019, Sanitek company was fined twice for failure to fulfill obligations, for a total of a small amount of AMD 40 million, while monthly, according to the agreement, the municipality transferred about 5 billion drams to the company's account. Residents of Yerevan were extremely outraged by the accumulated garbage throughout the city and the inaction of the relevant services. Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan repeatedly publicly expressed dissatisfaction with the work of "Sanitek" company, stressing that Yerevan residents will no longer tolerate work of this quality.
In this regard, garbage collection and sanitation services in 12 administrative districts of Yerevan have already begun to be carried out with the help of the institution "Garbage collection and sanitary cleaning in Yerevan" formed by the mayor's office. The measure was taken to resolve the garbage crisis in the capital of Armenia. A large amount of additional equipment has already been brought into the city: garbage trucks of the KAMAZ brand and new garbage containers. The mayor's office said that at the moment there is no cooperation with Sanitek, all negotiations with the bankrupt company have been suspended.
