ArmInfo. Armenian Ambassador to Russia Vardan Toghanyan is convinced that the situation with former Chief of Compulsory Enforcement Service of RA Mihran Poghosyan does not have any relation to the Armenian-Russian relations and their condition.
So, in an interview with reporters, in Yerevan, answering the corresponding question, the diplomat stated that there were similar incidents in the past, in the present and in the future. "The extradition process as a whole should be consistent with international and domestic law. First, Russia has not rejected the request for extradition. If you are informed and read the message from the Russian prosecutor's office, it says that they turned to their Armenian colleagues for additional documents and justifications, then there is no final decision on extradition, "Toghanyan said.
Secondly, according to the diplomat, as regards Mikayel Harutyunyan (former Minister of Defense of the RA Ed. note), As already noted, he is a citizen of the Russian Federation under the Russian Constitution, as well as in Armenian, a citizen of this country cannot be extradited. The ambassador also assured that there are hundreds of similar cases, but little is known about them, since the people are less known. "Therefore, I would not politicize this issue and introduce it into the field of Armenian-Russian relations," the ambassador said.
At the same time, he pointed out that in the Russian media after the collapse of the Soviet Union there is a pluralism of opinions on various issues, including internal processes in other states, and Armenia is no exception. And associating this with the official position of Moscow, according to the ambassador, is a distortion of the domestic political situation. "The official position of Russia is known to us and is not related to messages sent from various centers, including those well known to us," Toghanyan said.
To clarify whether the congratulations of the Russian leader to the second president of the RA, Robert Kocharyan, who is in prison, can be considered as support for the latter, the ambassador said: "No, it cannot, since this is an internal affair of Armenia. I am not informed of any attempts to intervene in the internal Armenian affairs, "he said.
To clarify whether Vladimir Putin will come to Yerevan, Toghanyan noted that from September 30 to October 1, the EAEU summit is planned to be held in Armenia, within the framework of which the visits of the presidents of the organization countries are expected, but it is too early to talk about the agenda of visits and events.
