ArmInfo.According to a May 2019 poll, more than 84% of Armenian citizens did not experience corruption. This fact once again confirms the authorities' statements that the new government was able to eradicate systemic corruption. Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated this on August 30 at meetings of the Council on Anti-Corruption Policy.
According to the Prime Minister, it's already obvious to everyone that the RA government has the political will to fight corruption and is consistent in this matter.
At the same time, according to the head of government, over the past year, during the conduct of the anti- corruption struggle, institutional gaps have been identified. As a result, both the fight against corruption, in general, and anti-corruption detection, the investigation of these cases, as well as the restoration of damage to the state due to corruption, does not proceed to the same extent and scale as the government and the public, justifiably, expected. "This is due to both objective and subjective reasons," Pashinyan said.
As the prime minister assured, the power will be extremely consistent in this matter. The government will strengthen the ongoing fight against corruption by creating new institutional structures. "During this period, a fairly voluminous and high-quality work was carried out in the direction of determining the anti- corruption strategy and how we see the further institutional development of the anti-corruption struggle," he said.
In this context, as the head of government pointed out, the political outcome for today is that the authorities can authoritatively declare that compromises are eliminated in the fight against corruption. "Our political task is as follows - zero tolerance for corruption in the Armenian society should be formed in the RA and this is the political goal that we are going to achieve," Pashinyan concluded.
To note, today at a meeting of the Council of Anti-Corruption Policy, a draft Anti-corruption Strategy and an action plan for 2019-2022 will be discussed.
