ArmInfo. The Acting Rector of the Armenian State Economic University Ruben Hayrapetyan will leave his post. The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia Arayik Harutyunyan wrote about this on his Facebook page.
"Today, on my initiative, a meeting was held with the acting head of the Armenian State Economic University, Ruben Hayrapetyan, during which the situation around the university was discussed, in particular, allegations related to the problems in his doctoral dissertation, some of which the acting rector himself had publicly admitted," the minister wrote.
As Harutyunyan noted, taking into account the fact that for the Armenian government and for him personally the exclusion of such phenomena in the system of science and education is a priority, the interlocutors agreed that Hayrapetyan will leave his post.
According to the head of the ministry this step should be one more confirmation of the fact that the rule of law and a certain value system are paramount for the new Armenian government, regardless of the circumstances.
To recall, on December 20, 2018 at a meeting of the administration of the State Economic University of Armenia, which was also attended by Minister of Education of Armenia Arayik Harutyunyan, Head of the Department of Management, Doctor of Economics, the youngest professor of Armenia Ruben Hayrapetyan was appointed Acting Rector of the State Economic University. Soon, a number of university professors accused him of plagiarism, Hayrapetyan himself admits that there are problems in the theoretical part of his doctoral dissertation, emphasizing that there were no references, but rejects the charges of plagiarism.
