ArmInfo. The Civil Aviation Committee of Armenia has denied rumors of puting up obstacles by the head of the department Tetevik Revazyan regarding the Russian Pobeda low-cost airline on flights to Yerevan.
According to the press service of the Committee, such reports by a number of media outlets are not true. Moreover, the source continued, the Committee did not receive applications from Pobeda Airlines for flights to the capital of Armenia. There are also no applications through diplomatic channels on the appointment by the Russian aviation authorities of an air carrier for flights to Yerevan from any Russian city. The Committee still has not received official notification of the termination of flights by Pobeda Airlines in the autumn-winter period 2019-2020.
To recall, on August 6, Pobeda announced that it had suspended the sale of tickets for flights from Moscow to Gyumri (Armenia) for the winter period. It is noted that the sale of tickets has stopped due to problems with the fuel tanker at the Gyumri airport. The matter, in particular, concerned the underfilling of fuel. Meanwhile, the Advisor to the Prime Minister of Armenia Hakob Jagaryan believes that the claims of the Russian air carrier are unfounded. According to him, Pobeda intends to launch flights to Yerevan, but would like to receive the same benefits as RyanAir Airlines.
ArmInfo. At the initiative of the Civil Aviation Committee, a working group of experts was formed, which will study all aspects of the situation around Pobeda Airlines and Gyumri Shirak Airport. This is stated in the official message of the Committee, posted on the Department's Facebook page.
