ArmInfo.BBC Russian service in its article did not present any factual document on the case of March 1, 2008. Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan stated this in an interview with reporters on August 9, noting that the publication contains only a link to data obtained from Special Investigation Service (SIS) of the RA.
"I can't give any comments on this, since in fact the BBC does not present any document, there is only a link to the data that was allegedly obtained from the SIS. However I can not tell whether this data corresponds to reality or not", Avinyan stated suggesting appeal to law enforcers on this issue,
To recall, on August 7, an article appeared on the BBC website stating that the publication received exclusive access to the investigation documents of one of the most tragic events in the modern history of Armenia: 10 people died in Yerevan during the March 1, 2008 protests. According to the article, the investigation believes that former Minister of Defense of Artsakh, Major General Samvel Karapetyan (Oganovsky), who passes as witness in the case, commanded the shooting of the demonstrators. His squad, according to the BBC, was stationed in the basement of the presidential administration, the unit was visited by two presidents - Robert Kocharyan and Serzh Sargsyan, while their stay was financed by two large oligarchs Gagik Tsarukyan and Samvel Aleksanyan. The authors of the article consider the March 1 case is political.
