ArmInfo. Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, who is on a visit to Washington to attend the second ministerial conference on freedom of religion, met yesterday with the US Acting Assistant Secretary of European and Eurasian Affairs Philip Reeker.
Deputy US Assistant Secretary of State George Kent, Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group from the US Andrew Schofer, and Armenian Ambassador to the US Varuzhan Nersesyan also participated in the meeting.
The interlocutors discussed a wide range of issues of the Armenian-American partnership, emphasizing the mutual readiness to expand and enrich the multi-sectoral cooperation agenda. Touching upon the first meeting of the Armenian-American strategic dialogue held in Yerevan in May of this year, the Armenian Foreign Minister welcomed the meeting in a similar format and at such a representative level, reaffirming the Armenian side's commitment to implementing the agreements reached during it.
According to the Minister, the Armenian-American strategic dialogue, which includes numerous areas of cooperation, including scientific and technical, energy, trade and economic, high-tech, innovation, tourism, etc., also contributes to the promotion of the reforms agenda being implemented in Armenia, including through the implementation of targeted programs.
Mnatsakanyan presented to his interlocutor a broad agenda of reforms implemented by the Armenian government, noting that the reforms in the field of justice and the police were among the main priorities. In this context, Minister Mnatsakanyan emphasized the importance of combining and coordinating the assistance of various international partners in order to ensure the stability and effectiveness of the reforms. During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on a number of international and regional issues. Touching upon the meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Azerbaijan, held on June 20 in Washington, the interlocutors discussed efforts for a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group.
