ArmInfo. Both Moscow and Yerevan are well aware that former President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan is sacrificed to ritual. A similar opinion was expressed to ArmInfo by scientist of the Institute for Economics of the RAS, Alexander Karavaev
"Kocharyan, who was under arrest for the third time, is not just striving to bring to justice for the events that took place 11 years ago on March 1, by judging of the second President of Armenia, acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is trying to crack down on the clan that ruled for many years, and also to demonstrate to the society its own complete rejection of its predecessors, "he noted.
Commenting on the reaction of Moscow to what is happening, Karavayev stressed that the Russian authorities have recently shown a rejection of the traditional patronage and fear policy against Armenia. Moreover, the Kremlin gives Pashinyan the opportunity to completely reformat the ruling Armenian elite. In this light, it is difficult to predict the final reaction of the Kremlin to an arrest that is in friendly relations with Vladimir Putin and Kocharyan.
"I don't even rule out that Pashinyan agreed with Putin about non-interference in the disclosure of the March 1 Case Armenian and Russian authorities constantly check each other. And today it is even impossible to understand whether there is a barrier in general put by the Kremlin to Pashinyan, above which he in this light, it is important to note the latter's readiness to move along the main lines of foreign policy along the lines acceptable to the Kremlin, "the Russian political analyst concluded.
