ArmInfo. By July 2019, the Artsakh society is witnessing a clash between two political forces, one way or another representing the past and the path traveled by Artsakh. At the same time, the dominant belief is that the Artsakh society needs a candidate facing the future and is in a state of search for such a candidate. A similar opinion was expressed by ArmInfo coordinator of the "Miatsum" Alliance, expert on security issues Hrachya Arzumanyan.
"In the current situation in the Republic of Armenia, Artsakh and the region, the President of Artsakh cannot be such oligarch and a representative of the outgoing power, as Araik Harutyunyan. And even his team already comes to realize the lack of adequate support in Artsakh society. Even an active election campaign and financial and other resources spent not able to change the prevailing opinion that one of the richest people in Artsakh and the prime minister of the republic in 2007-2017 Harutyunyan is personally responsible for the deep political and economic great crisis in Artsakh and the results of the 2016 War, "he noted.
In this light, the "Miatsum" Aalliance hopes that the Free Homeland Party will recognize its chance for an alternative political future and seats in parliament if it is able to distance itself from the politics of its leader, thereby avoiding the fate of the Republican Party of Armenia.
At the same time, the collection of signatures conducted by the team of the second presidential candidate Samvel Babayan to change the Constitution that would allow him to take part in the elections, according to Arzumanyan, revealed some support for Babayan in Artsakh society and also his ability to influence political processes. At the same time, the analyst also assesses the forces grouped around the former commander of the Artsakh Defense Army, as forces from the past.
Against this background, the "Miatsum" Alliance, in the conviction of its coordinator, insists on the need for a new third candidate who can offer an alternative view on Artsakh's future. In particular, according to the results of the elections of 2020, a public, state and political figure should strive not to split, but to consolidate society and lead it to the future "Miatsum" (Union). "The future president of Artsakh should become the president of public consensus and agreement. Only such a president and a consolidated Artsakh society are able to cope with future challenges and threats of the Armenian statehood and the people. The Alliance is still ready to become the platform and pole around which consolidation ", Arzumanyan summed up.
