ArmInfo.. China, slowly but surely, ensures its presence in the South Caucasus. Such an opinion was expressed by ArmInfo, the head of the Political Club "South Caucasus"  (Baku), a well-known international diplomat Ilgar Velizade.

"This is done through the participation of China in the  implementation of important infrastructure projects in the South  Caucasus, the development of banking and trade. In turn, for  Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia, it is important that healthy  competition exists outside the regional players within the region.  Such competition creates new opportunities in ensuring a balance of  interests of the countries in our region, "he stressed.

In terms of the concepts of modern empires, Velizade characterizes  China as a growing empire of the 21st century. According to his  estimates, such a growing empire is in dire need of expanding its  living space.  Such for China, apparently, is the whole of Eurasia,  at least that part of it, which can be challenged by several global  centers of power at once.

"The South Caucasus, in turn, continues to remain the traditional  arena of rivalry between regional and extra-regional players. So why  China not to take part in this rivalry?
