ArmInfo. Official Baku is waiting for proposals from the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs on the timing of a new meeting of the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia on the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement. According to Interfax-Azerbaijan, Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said this at a joint press conference after a meeting with Bulgarian counterpart Ekaterina Zaharieva.
<I'm not Nostradamus to say when there will be a new meeting - the sooner the better. The co-chairs will say when it is possible to hold a new meeting, "said Mammadyarov.
According to him, the last meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia in Washington lasted more than 3 hours. <The positive moment of this meeting - the mediators gave us suggestions for discussion. Are these new or old documents? We have been discussing them for the past 15 years,> Mammadyarov said.
He added that the position of Azerbaijan remains unchanged and the main negotiations can begin only after the withdrawal of "Armenian troops from the "occupied territories"." <As for other issues, they are discussed. But the main thing is the withdrawal of Armenian troops," he added.
At the same time, he noted that Azerbaijan is a supporter of conducting substantive negotiations.
Mammadyarov stressed that in the next 2-3 months the proposals of the co-chairs will be considered. <The Armenian side every time raises the question that we need status and security. This issue was discussed in Washington. As for security issues and the possibility of deploying international peacekeeping forces, the co-chairs should further clarify their proposals and come up with them. The co-chairs say that we have to work on this issue, "the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister added.
It should be noted that on June 20 in Washington, a meeting was held between Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov and his Armenian counterpart Zohrab Mnatsakanyan. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group Igor Popov, Andrew Schofer, Stephane Visconti and personal representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk participated in the meeting. To note, the new proposal of the mediators was noted in the final statement of the RA Foreign Ministry.
