About 102 injured are under the supervision of doctors. According to media reports, several dozen people were detained. The cause of the clashes was the participation of the Russian delegation in the work of the Inter- Parliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy. The presence of the Russian lawmakers was not approved by the Georgian parliamentarians, they raised a protest. Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili accused Moscow of destabilizing the situation in the country.
This situation, on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, was also commented on by the Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia, Grigory Karasin. "The Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy, which had long been planned in Tbilisi, was obviously used by the radical part of the opposition in order to organize outrage on the streets. This once again shows the emotional charge of the radical part of Georgian politicians who are doing everything to prevent the normalization of relations between Moscow and Tbilisi ", the high-ranking diplomat stressed.
