ArmInfo. A press conference of the Mission of international observers from the Commonwealth of Independent States was held at Nur-Sultan on the results of monitoring the preparation and conduct of the extraordinary elections of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Sergei Lebedev, Chairman of the CIS Observation Mission, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States, told reporters: “We concluded that the elections in Kazakhstan were held at a high organizational level and in a free atmosphere. Elections are held in accordance with the Constitution and Constitutional Law. They were transparent, democratic and competitive. Our Mission of Observers included parliamentarians from the CIS countries, heads of Central Election Commissions and diplomats. We believe that a high level of representation and a large quantitative composition allowed us to get an objective and broad picture of the elections. ”
Coordinator of the group of observers from the IPA CIS, Deputy Chairman of Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Ilyas Umakhanov said that during the monitoring, observers had the opportunity to meet with by many candidates. "Election transparency and equal the rights of candidates for the election campaign were ensured. These were equal opportunity elections, "he stressed.
The mission consisted of 432 observers from eight CIS countries. In total, observers visited 3,812 polling stations in all the regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the cities of Nur-Sultan, Almaty and Shymkent, as well as at foreign sites in Baku, Yerevan, Minsk, Bishkek, Moscow and St. Petersburg.
