ArmInfo.The government will assess its financial capacity to assist victims in the context of the events of March 1, 2008. Armenian Minister of Justice Artak Zeynalyan said this on June 4 in an interview with journalists.
He noted that help can be not only financial, but also social. "Our assistance will depend on the possibilities of the country's budget," the minister stressed. As for the amount of assistance, Zeynalyan said that there are no exact data now.
It should be noted that on June 4, the Armenian parliament in the second and final reading adopted a draft law on the provision of state aid to persons who suffered during the events of March 1, 2008.
To recall, as a result of clashes at opposition rallies that followed the presidential elections in Armenia in 2008, at which Serzh Sargsyan won de jure, 10 people were killed on March 1. The investigation of the case is still ongoing. Within the framework of the case, the second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan and a number of high-ranking officials of that time are being charged with overthrowing the constitutional system.
