ArmInfo. Not the best geopolitical situation around Poland over history, has not prevented our country from making the right choice between the West and Russia. Head of the Polish-Armenian Parliamentary Group of the Parliament of the Republic of Poland Tadeusz Wozniak, expressed a similar opinion, answering the question of ArmInfo.
A group of Armenian journalists within the framework organized by the Polish Embassy in Armenia press tour, on May 25-30 visited in Warsaw, where they had the opportunity to meet with Polish diplomats, politicians, deputies, representatives of public organizations.
On both sides, our country has always been surrounded by Russia and Germany. With both of these countries, we have historically had not the best relations, since both of our neighbors sought to divide Poland among themselves. However, the Polish people, even being part of the Slavic group of nations, always looked in the direction of the West, because they shared the European system of values, "he stressed.
In this light, Wozniak believes that Armenia also, sooner or later, will have to make a choice between Europe and Russia. According to his estimates, Poland understands perfectly well the complexity of the situation in Armenia. And, nevertheless, the Polish parliamentarian considers this choice an inevitable task of Armenia. Wozniak emphasized that in any case, any choice of Armenia on traditionally friendly relations with Poland will not be reflected.
The Polish parliamentarian, in general, is inclined to link the determination of the future vector of Armenia's foreign policy with the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. He predicted that in the event of a settlement of the conflict with Azerbaijan, the resolution of the territorial dispute and the final achievement of peace, the decision on the choice of Armenia would not be so difficult. "I am convinced that there is always a choice. The whole question is how good it is? We also realize that every choice has its consequences, person and the country, which makes that choice holds responsibility for them. And it seems to me that the country that accepted Christianity first, should always continue to give preference to democratic values, " Wozniak concluded.
