ArmInfo. Unlike other states, the Armenian humanitarian mission in Syria operates independently. The commander of the brigade of the peacekeeping forces of the Armenian Defense Ministry Artak Tonoyan said this at a press conference in Yerevan on May 29, answering the question of ArmInfo.
"If, for example, in Afghanistan, Kosovo and other countries we carry out a peacekeeping mission as part of the contingents of other states, then we act independently," Tonoyan stressed, adding that reserve peacekeepers - doctors, sappers and other experts - were sent to Syria.
On February 8, the humanitarian mission of Armenia consisting of 83 people began its work in Aleppo, which is entrusted with the task of de-mining outside the combat zone, anti-mine informing the population and providing medical assistance to the residents of Aleppo.
