ArmInfo.The Voice of America radio station reports that American expert Ruben Carranza will arrive in Armenia to help the country develop a transitional justice program.
Director of Programs of the International Center for Transitional Justice Anna Myriam Roccatello noted that transitional justice is designed to help investigate crimes that become relevant after the war or the establishment of legal authority in the country. She noted that in the case of Armenia, the country wants to strengthen the foundations of democracy, as well as reform the state system.
The expert also stressed that now is the right time to discuss and implement the transitional justice system.
This night, Senior Transitional Justice Expert Ruben Carranza will go to Armenia to help the process of developing transitional justice programs.
To note, on May 21, Armenian Minister of Justice Artak Zeynalyan stated in a conversation with journalists that it is necessary to introduce a transitional justice system in the country. The Minister noted that transitional justice will not be a weapon of revenge or persecution, it will be called upon to reconcile society.
