ArmInfo. Yerevan hopes for rapprochement with Baku on the issue of returning the unrecognized republic of Nagorno-Karabakh to the negotiating table. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this at a meeting with Russian journalists on Friday. "I hope that our positions with Azerbaijan regarding the return Karabakh will come close to the negotiating table, "Pashinyan stressed.
However, the head of the Armenian Cabinet noted that he was not going to put preconditions for negotiations to resolve the conflict in Karabakh.
In particular, Pashinyan is not going to postpone the process until Stepanakert is involved in the negotiations. At the same time, the prime minister promised not to slow down the negotiations with Azerbaijan on Karabakh, but also not to force them.
"We will not force this process, but we will not slow it down, because there is a conflict, and I do not think it is advisable to forget about it," said the Armenian Prime Minister.
According to him, the Karabakh issue can be resolved only by returning Nagorno-Karabakh to the negotiation process. At the same time, he stressed that Moscow has the necessary levers to prevent possible new escalation in the region.
"I'm sure that Russia has all the levers to prevent an escalation in the Nagorno-Karabakh region. And I can't believe that when needed, Russia does not use these levers," Pashinyan concluded. Moreover, as noted by Pashinyan, the parties are going to organize an exchange of delegations of journalists.
