ArmInfo.A criminal case has been opened in the Investigation Committee of Armenia over the death of Sergeant Ararat Simonovich Khechumyan, a serviceman of the military service of the RA Armed Forces.
According to the press service of the RA Investigative Committee, the criminal case was initiated on the grounds of part 2 of article 377 of the RA Criminal Code. "On May 14, at about 4:30pm local time, within the framework of the exercises held in one of the Nth military units, according to preliminary data, in connection with the violation of the rules of operation of combat vehicles and as a result of overturn of Ural 04310 vehicle, the commander of the car crew serviceman of the military service, junior sergeant Ararat Simonovich Khechumyan died. A criminal case was initiated, the investigation is underway," the Investigation Committee of the RA reported.
Earlier, the press secretary of the RA Defense Ministry Artsrun Hovhannisyan reported on Facebook on the death of the serviceman. "I must report with deep sorrow that according to preliminary data, a soldier, junior sergeant Ararat Khechumyan, born in 1999, died in an accident today in the Armenian Armed Forces of Armenia. We express condolences to Ararat Khechumyan's relatives," Hovhannisyan said.
