ArmInfo. The Ministry of Health of Armenia is ready to take drastic measures if the current trend towards a decrease in vaccination coverage in the country continues. This was announced by Minister Arsen Torosyan on May 13 at a meeting with journalists.
In particular, following the example of many developed countries, the Ministry of Health will take more stringent measures in order to silence the opponents of vaccination, up to the establishment of criminal liability. "For example, Russia is discussing the introduction of criminal responsibility for calls to refuse vaccination. And if our coverage of vaccinees goes down, which will steadily lead to epidemics, we will also take these steps. This is done to preserve the health of the population of the country and our children These are vaccines that save lives, "he said. So, according to the minister, it is already worrying that the measles vaccination rate has dropped below 90%. In the meantime, in all areas coverage should not be below 95%. <The world is moving towards the elimination of disease, and we must continue our steps in this direction. For example, due to vaccination, poliomyelitis is on the verge of annihilation, and if the opposite trend continues, then again we will have many dead and children with disabilities, "the head of the Armenian Ministry of Health concluded.
