ArmInfo. The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry issued a statement on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of reaching a trilateral agreement on a ceasefire regime in the Karabakh conflict zone, at the same time forgetting to specify Nagorno- Karabakh as a third party that signed the document.
The Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Azerbaijan, once again, formally called on Yerevan to engage in constructive negotiations for the earliest possible resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
At the same time, Baku tried once again to impose its conditions on Yerevan, pointing to the need to ensure "the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, the return of internally displaced persons, as well as ensure the peaceful coexistence of the Azerbaijani and Armenian communities."
"This will serve as a basis for restoring normal neighborly relations between Armenia and ensuring lasting peace, security and development in the region," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan assured.
Baku also decided to submit to the Armenian side an interpretation of the document signed 25 years ago, apparently believing that "Yerevan itself will not understand this". "The document stresses that declaring a non-fire regime means stopping any military activity, withdrawing occupying forces, deploying international peacekeepers, restoring communications in conflict zones, returning internally displaced persons and continuing negotiations to reach a final resolution to the conflict. All this means an integrated approach to ensuring a ceasefire. That is, the truce envisages not only the non-use of fire, but also the withdrawal of military forces from the conflict zone and the rejection of activities serving to strengthen the occupation situation, including the refusal of actions that impede the return of internally displaced persons, "the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry stated without saying a word about their own Armenian-phobic policy pursued at the state level.
In conclusion, the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan expressed regret over Yerevan's refusal to conduct substantive negotiations and "unconditional release of supposedly Azerbaijani territories", forgetting that they did not win, but lost in the Artsakh liberation war, and cannot dictate their conditions.
