ArmInfo. Bulgaria attaches great importance to the development and strengthening of bilateral defense cooperation with Armenia. The military attache at the Bulgarian Embassy in Armenia, Lieutenant Colonel Yancho Komitov said this at a reception in honor of the Bravery Day and the Bulgarian Army (St. George's Day).
Having ascertained the existence of excellent relations between Armenia and Bulgaria, not only in the defense, but also in all spheres in general, the military attache, assured that Sofia appreciates relations with Yerevan. "We consider Armenia our important friend and partner," said Komitov. At the same time, he noted that the efforts of the Bulgarian Ministry of Defense in the framework of bilateral cooperation and regional defense initiatives are aimed at deepening cooperation with allies, developing contacts with partners, further strengthening security and stability in south-eastern Europe and deepening integration processes.
The military attache also reminded that this year Bulgaria celebrates the 15th anniversary of NATO membership, which was preceded by a long integration path. "NATO is first and foremost a political union of democratic states with one goal - to preserve peace, security and democracy. Bulgaria is a very valuable ally of NATO and is committed to continuing to build on its role as a pillar of security and stability in the Balkans and the Black Sea region, leading an open, constructive and well thought-out policy and efforts to develop modern defense capabilities. The strategic review of the defense of the armed forces shows that the Bulgarian army is able to fulfil the tasks entrusted with the constitution to ensure the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of the country within the framework of the collective defense of NATO and the EU Common Security and Defense Policy, "the military attache said, concluding that today the Bulgarian army successfully participates in various peacekeeping operations under NATO and continues to contribute to the maintenance of international peace and security.
