ArmInfo. Turkish radicalization President Erdogan on the issue of the Armenian Genocide, other historical matters due to his desire to rule in Turkey and after 2023. This opinion was expressed by ArmInfo Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, academician Ruben Safrastyan.
"Recep Erdogan expects to remain in power after 2023, when the 100th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Turkey will be celebrated. And in this he really needs support from the Islamist and ultranationalist electorate. Especially the part in which Erdogan justifies the deportation of Armenians "by the unrest committed by Armenian gangs and armed groups and by slaughtering Muslim women and children, " - he stressed.
Thus, the president of Turkey, according to Safrastyan, actually justified the massacre of an entire people by the Young Turk government of Turkey with the aim of finally resolving the Armenian issue. According to the academician, he does this consciously, addressing his messages not only to Armenia, but also to a number of Muslim countries, who are more and more often interested in the Armenian Genocide. "In this light, speaking about the extermination of Muslim women and children, Erdogan seeks to consolidate the Islamic world around Turkey. Especially considering that the ideological foundations of the creation of" New Turkey "planned by Erdogan are Pan-Turkism and the international popularization of the Turkish language," Safrastyan stressed.
Based on similar trends in Turkish politics, Armenia, from the point of view of a turkologist, should strengthen the stimulation of the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide in order to compensate Turkey for the financial, moral, political and territorial damage caused to the Armenians by the Ottoman Empire.
Similar work aimed at increasing international pressure on Turkey in order to restore historical justice, the work is very complex and voluminous. However, in his opinion, it is possible and necessary to overcome the powerful opposition of Turkey, relying primarily on the equally powerful intellectual potential of the Armenians. According to Safrastyan, today the Armenians lack a coordinated policy on this issue. And to remedy the situation, Armenia should take the lead and take the lead, and not the centers of the Diaspora scattered around the world. According to his forecasts, the young Armenians, both in Armenia and in the Diaspora, will assume a key role in the development and implementation of a unified policy towards the recognition of the genocide.
The Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey is the first large-scale international crime in the modern history of mankind, committed with the aim of killing an entire nation on political and ethnic grounds. The deliberate actions of the Turkish government are reflected in indisputable facts, supported by irrefutable documents and evidence from various sources. The fact of the Armenian Genocide is recognized by more than 25 countries of the world, individual entities of several countries.
