ArmInfo.Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan opposes restricting the broadcasting of Russian TV channels in Armenia. He said this in an interview with journalists, commenting on the statement of his fellow party member, MP Armine Tukhikyan, who spoke in favor of reducing the broadcasting of Russian TV channels in the RA and for completely turning off some Russian TV programs.
At the same time, Pashinyan made a reservation: "Any TV company and any state must clearly understand that there are questions of correctness that must be observed, but this does not mean that someone is going to limit anyone's right to express an opinion". To note, MP from the faction of the ruling bloc Armine Tukhikyan at a meeting of the Parliamentary Commission on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sports raised a question during discussion of the report "On the activities of the National Commission on Television and Radio for 2018" on the need to limit the broadcast of a number of Russian TV channels in Armenia. The reason for her anger was the fact that the deputy from the ruling bloc saw in the programs of some Russian TV channels with which the RA has contracts - "World", ORT and "Russia 1" political implications . In this regard, Tukhikyan also asked the head of the NCTR, Tigran Hakobyan, whether it is possible to restrict or completely turn off the broadcasting of these channels, at least during the broadcast period of the "anti-Armenian sowing hostility programs". "This is an important political issue," the MP assured.
