ArmInfo.Activation of Moscow in the issue of Artsakh does not bode well for Armenia . political analyst Levon Shirinyan expressed such opinion to ArmInfo, commenting on the meeting of foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Russia.
On Thursday, Armenian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Anna Naghdalyan, starting from an agreement to simultaneously inform about the date and place of each meeting as part of the settlement of the Karabakh conflict, told ArmInfo that the meeting between Armenian and Azerbaijani Foreign Ministers will be held April 15 in Moscow. Naghdalyan emphasized that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will take part in the Mnatsakanyan-Mamedyarov meeting.
"The most important thing is that no one today knows what will happen in a few months with Russia itself. So far, Moscow has been actively cooperating with Azerbaijan and Turkey, pursuing only one goal - gaining financial gain. In this game, which has little in common with the mission By the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia is keeping the Artsakh problem in limbo with the aim of continuing to sell to Azerbaijan military equipment stagnated in Russian warehouses, " Shirinyan said.
According to Shirinyan, the participation of Baku in this Russia-initiated game costs the Azerbaijanis billions of dollars. And the lion's share of the amounts received by Azerbaijan from the sale of oil goes to Russia. In this light, in the opinion of the political scientist, Armenia and Artsakh should rely solely on their own strength, since at this stage Armenian interests are not consonant with Russian, to put it mildly.
Since 1992, the OSCE Minsk Group has been involved in resolving the Karabakh conflict, represented by the co-chairs from Russia, the United States and France. At present, the settlement process is proceeding on the basis of the Madrid Principles put forward by the OSCE Minsk Group in 2007 and the Madrid Principles updated in 2009, which, among other things, provide for the deployment of a peacekeeping force in the conflict zone.
