ArmInfo. French President Emmanuel Macron signed a decree on April 10, which proclaims April 24 the national Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Armenian Genocide. It is reported by the Armenian Genocide Museum Institute.
Thus, Macron fulfilled the promise made to the Armenian community of France in February of this year, during a speech at the annual council of Armenian organizations.
In connection with the signing of this decree, the Ambassador of France to Armenia Jonathan Lacote also left a note on his Facebook page, who published the text of the decree, in particular, said: "I am very proud to represent in Armenia the country ,which will commemorate the victims of the Armenian Genocide of 1915 every year, an integral part of our collective memory. "
To note, France has adopted 4 documents on the recognition of the Armenian Genocide - in 1998, 2000, 2001 and 2006. In addition, there was an attempt to criminalize the denial of the Armenian Genocide, but after the adoption of this law, it was declared unconstitutional.
