The night before, the Italian parliament adopted a resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide, which recommended the government of the country to recognize the fact of the genocide. The resolution on recognition of the Armenian Genocide was adopted in the Italian parliament by 382 votes for out of 432, 43 deputies abstained. The adoption of the resolution was accompanied by stormy applause.
