ArmInfo. After the changes that took place in Armenia, full independence and justice of the judicial system is of great importance for us. Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said this on April 10 during the ceremony of celebrating the anniversary of the founding of the Supreme Judicial Council of Armenia.
The Prime Minister noted that serious progress is observed in the issue of democracy and human rights in Armenia. "In order to implement the reforms, institutional guarantees are necessary, and one of these guarantees is a free judicial system," Pashinyan stressed.
According to him, in Armenia they talked about a free judicial system from the day of independence, but it has not been formed over the years. "I want to note that for the new government of Armenia, the priority task is an independent judiciary, this issue was on our agenda. The Armenian authorities abandoned the alleged practice of executing pressure on a non-judicial system. If someone tries to do otherwise, then this a person acts against the people of Armenia and against the government, "the premier said.
Pashinyan also stressed that there should be judges in Armenia who will take responsibility and act within the framework of the law. "In this regard, a consistent fight against corruption is important for us. Not a single corrupt official should sleep peacefully, he should know that justice will prevail. I'm sure that the chance for change will be used and we will achieve our goal. And if someone will try to prevent us, then we will be forced to resolve this issue, "- said the Prime Minister.
At the end of the speech, Pashinyan stated that he is confident that the opportunity given after the revolution will be used, and an independent judicial system will be formed in Armenia in the near future.
In turn, Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC), Gagik Harutyunyan, stated that the SJC is a guarantee of the independence of the judiciary and judges. "Through consistent work, we intend to ensure the full independence of the judiciary, increase people's confidence in the justice system, create the prerequisites for consistently ensuring the rule of law in the country and protecting human rights," said Harutyunyan.
He also noted that in the framework of the fight against corruption, SJC implemented an e-justice and monitoring system. "This will make it possible to reduce costs in the judicial system, as well as make the courts more accessible to the citizens of the country," Harutyunyan said.
He also said that over the past year, the Supreme Judicial Council has been engaged in identifying problems in the judicial system and mechanisms for their effective resolution. "We are taking all steps to ensure the most accessible, free and fair justice system in Armenia," Harutyunyan concluded.
