ArmInfo. As long as the Karabakh conflict is not settled, not a single negotiation can be considered 100% effective, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this in an interview with journalists following closed discussions in the Armenian parliament on the Karabakh issue.
At the same time, he stressed that he fully shares the approaches reflected in the statement of the Minsk mediators and foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan that the Vienna meetings of the parties were held in a constructive and positive atmosphere. He noted that within the framework of the agreements reached on humanitarian actions, the parties came to a consensus to allow residents of border villages to carry out agricultural work in a peaceful environment. "We are ready to fulfill this agreement, if Azerbaijan does it," said the prime minister, adding that there is an agreement to organize visits of relatives of people in captivity in both countries. <But this is a question that depends on the relatives themselves, whether they want it, you know>, the premier said.
But most importantly, he stressed in an interview with journalists, it is necessary to state one fact: "I am not negotiating from the point at which Serzh Sargsyan stopped, but starting with my own, from a new position".
Touching once again the statement of the RA Minister of Defense David Tonoyan on the implementation of the principle of "new war for new territories", Pashinyan considered it quite logical and fit into the framework of the statement of Minsk mediators. <Tonoyan just wanted to say that we should not be scared with war, we are not afraid of it. If someone thinks that in case of war we will surrender, then this person is simply naive. We do not want war, we want a peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict, we want peace, we want to advance the peace agenda, and we are ready to take steps in this direction. But our statements about peace do not mean that we fear war. There are grounds for fearing war here, as much as Azerbaijan, and so many other countries in the region. "Pashinyan said.
He also stressed that if someone imposes a war on the Armenian side, Armenia will try to impose peace. <It will not be our war, we will not start it, but if someone initiates hostilities, we will impose our peace upon him. However, in order to avoid a war, do not constantly talk about it, after each meeting. When we talk about war, we show our commitment to peace, to negotiations, "the prime minister stated, stressing that in Vienna the parties agree to respect and strengthen the ceasefire regime. According to him, the Armenian side does not intend to violate this agreement: "I hope that the leader of Azerbaijan will not do that, either." <But I say it again, do not perceive our commitment to peace as weakness or lack of readiness for war. We will act in proportion to the situation, although we are determined in a constructive manner. We want to be heard, and we are ready to listen. If our partners on some issue find that our position is too hard, we will be ready for a more flexible position, but this should be a mutual process, "the prime minister concluded.
