ArmInfo.Armenia is a very good example among the countries of the Eastern Partnership in terms of its ability to make big changes and improve the quality of state governance, Head of the EU delegation in Armenia Piotr Switalski expressed such an opinion on April 4 in Yerevan at the forum dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the EU Eastern Partnership program.
According to the diplomat, today serious reforms are taking place in Armenia in a number of areas that will increase the country's involvement in European processes.
"Today's forum dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the EaP is a good opportunity for the Armenian side to identify the vectors of cooperation within the Eastern Partnership ", said the ambassador, however, assuring that there was no hidden agenda in the EaP program: from the very beginning the idea was to strengthen relations between the European Union and its eastern neighbors.
At the same time, the diplomat believes that the EaP program over the past 10 years has esnured positive and measurable results. According to him, today three of the six members of the EaP enjoy privileges granted by the simplified visa regime, which in turn stimulates contacts between people. "People benefit from this, and this is undeniable. In addition, a number of successful educational projects are being implemented, the most striking of which are Erasmus + and the European School of Tbilisi," Switalski noted, adding that due to the funds allocated by the European Union, thousands of jobs have been opened in partner countries.
The Head of the EU Delegation also pointed out that for many EU partners security issues are key and, from this point of view, the EU is perceived as a security structure.
In conclusion, the diplomat informed about the upcoming meeting of the heads of state of the program in order to discuss the prospects for further cooperation.
