ArmInfo.The formula "new war for new territories" put forward by Armenian Defense Minister David Tonoyan means that the Armenian side must force Azerbaijan to peace not only with diplomacy, but also with the strength of the army, Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly Committee on Foreign Affairs Hovhannes Igityan stated on this April 1 in an interview with the correspondent of ArmInfo.
"I want to remind you that many years ago, when Baku tried to resolve the conflict through war, it lost control over many territories. Defense envisages retaliatory offensive measures as well," the lawmaker noted.
In turn, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Defense and Security Issues Andranik Kocharyan, commenting on the statement made by Tonoyan, noted that the Armenian side stands for an exclusively peaceful settlement of the Artsakh conflict. "We never wanted war. But today we face the task of achieving peace decently. I can say with confidence that we have solved the peace problem since the establishment of our army," Kocharyan concluded.
To note, at a meeting with the Armenian community of New York, Armenian Defense Minister David Tonoyan, in particular, stated: "The formula "the territory in exchange for peace" has changed. we will act differently, we will put forward another formula "new war for new territories", "the minister stressed.
