ArmInfo.Ara Shirinyan was elected Chairman of the Council of Public Television of Armenia.
3 members of the Council voted for Shirinyan, 1 member for A1 + TV company founder, and 1 member for the representative of the National Council on Television and Radio Tigran Hakobyan. In general, 23 candidates took part in the competition for this position. Shirinyan was born in 1957, graduated from the Yerevan Pedagogical Institute Department of Culture with a degree in directing. In 1982-1996 he worked as a director in the State Television of Armenia. In 1996-2003, he worked in the public relations department of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund. Shirinyan taught at the Faculty of Journalism of Yerevan State University. In 1999 he founded the studio <Versus>. From 2004, he worked as creative director of the Shoghakat TV company.
Previously, Public Television Council was headed by founder of the SHARM HOLDING Ruben Jaghinyan.
