ArmInfo. The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict cannot have a successful military solution. The special representative of the NATO Secretary General in the South Caucasus and Central Asia, James Appathurai, stated this on March 11 at a press conference in Yerevan.
He recalled that NATO does not interfere in resolving conflicts, but at the same time advocates the establishment of peace and security in the region, since it also proceeds from its own interests.
The representative of the North Atlantic Alliance positively assessed the reduction of tension on the contact line of troops and the desire of the governments of both countries to establish peace. "We are deeply convinced that the conflict can be resolved exclusively by peaceful means. There can be no successful military solution. This is our decisive position," said Appathurai. The Alliance, in his words, fully supports the mediation activities of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs on the settlement of the Karabakh conflict.
