ArmInfo. No "donations" will free the criminals who plundered state funds from deserved punishment. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated this from the rostrum of the Armenian parliament, referring to the readiness of a number of former high-ranking officials involved in high-profile corruption cases to "donate" their property to the state.
"In principle, we do not need their" donations. As a result of fair justice, when their guilt is proved, this property will in any case be confiscated by the force of law, and they will suffer the deserved punishment. Then why should we fall under their" mercy "and accept the" donations " ?"the prime minister wondered.
At the same time, he expressed dissatisfaction with the rate of detection of corruption crimes. He again stressed that every penny stolen from the people should be returned to the state budget. Referring to the case of the former head of the Customs Service Armen Avetisyan, who is accused of embezzling state funds, Pashinyan said that the Golden Palace hotel in Tsaghkadzor, owned by the Avetisyan family, had not yet been transferred to the state for legal reasons.
Earlier, Avetisyan expressed willingness to "transfer" this hotel to the state. Readiness to transfer his property to the state was also expressed by General Manvel Grigoryan, arrested on charges of embezzlement on a particularly large scale, possession of ammunition. However, according to ArmInfo, this issue is also still under investigation. In turn, the younger brother of the third president of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan Sashik Sargsyan, accused of fraud on a large scale, handed over $ 20 million to the state, which will be spend to the needs of the Artsakh Armed Forces.
