ArmInfo. Armenia plans to get four Russian Su-30SM fighter jets at the end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020, and all of Yerevan would like to purchase 12 such vehicles. Armenian Defense Minister David Tonoyan stated this to RIA Novosti during the exhibition of weapons IDEX-2019
According to the Minister, the first batch, consisting of four cars, will arrive in Armenia at the end of 2019 - the beginning of 2020. "We are continuing negotiations on the supply of the next batch of Su-30SM. Everything will depend on how quickly this product can be ready - there are issues of import substitution and so on. We plan to receive the first batch this year, at the very least - at the beginning of the next > he said.
Answering the question of RIA Novosti, how many such vehicles would the Armenian military department plans to purchase, Tonoyan noted that we are talking about one squadron (12 aircraft).
Earlier, Armenian Defense Ministry spokesman Artsrun Hovhannisyan told RIA Novosti that Yerevan plans to buy four SU-30 SM fighters from the Russian Federation. The Defense Ministry also noted that the process of acquiring weapons in the framework of a $ 100 million loan previously allocated by the Russian side is at the implementation stage.
To recall, Armenian Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan visited the United Arab Emirates on February 16-17, where he participated in the International Conference in Abu Dhabi, as well as in the military-industrial exhibition IDEX-2019.
The exhibition, which runs from February 17 to 21, also features a pavilion of Armenian military-industrial enterprises.
