ArmInfo.Given the fact that the negotiation process, as such, is not conducted today, the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs should be aimed at resuming the process.
The adviser to the Artsakh President Tigran Abrahamyan stated this in an interview with ArmInfo correspondent, commenting on yesterday's meeting of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Davos.Referring to the frequent informal meetings between Pashinyan and Aliyev, Abrahamyan noted that regardless of the format in which they were held, they could contribute to the resumption of negotiations. "Therefore, I think it does not matter whether this or that meeting is official or not, in any case, this is a very positive process," said Abrahamyan.
Referring to the latest statement of the OSCE Minsk Group and the wording on the "need to prepare societies for peace", Abrahamyan stressed that in order to achieve peace, mediators should make efforts to eliminate institutional Armenian phobia in Azerbaijan. "I don't think that Armenia and Artsakh need such appeals. The policy of war and armenophobia is preached at all levels in Azerbaijan. Therefore, it seems to me that this appeal is more directed to Azerbaijan than to us. Baku should reconsider its xenophobic policy starting from education in schools and kindergartens, "he noted, stressing that he did not share the fears that the mediators, in exchange for peace, are trying to transfer to Azerbaijan the territories controlled by the Armenian side.According to him, one should not look for any shadow processes in the Karabakh settlement.
"The co-chairs are just trying to make efforts to resume negotiations, however, the April four-day war showed that their efforts were in vain. The whole situation with the war in April 2016 was for us and the co-chairs completely unexpected. Given the fact that the co-chairs recognize the threat of escalation, they they are trying to do everything to resume negotiations, "concluded the adviser to the President of Artsakh.
