ArmInfo. During the winter session at PACE, MP Mikael Melkumyan reacted harshly to the scornful assessments expressed by delegates from Azerbaijan Sevinj Fataliyeva and Rafael Huseynov related to the early parliamentary elections in Armenia.
In his speech, Melkmumyan, in particular, said: "The early parliamentary elections in Armenia on December 9, 2018 met international democratic standards. The new parliament has 3 political forces. A feature of these elections was that they took place after the April political revolution in Armenia. And now, when a new parliament has been formed and a new government is soon to be formed, our country needs an economic and technological revolution. This thought was first expressed by the head of the Prosperous Armenia Party, Gagik Tsarukyan. Our country is ready to attract large investments, and for this, legislative and administrative work is underway. In particular, the new tax code, which will soon be adopted, we do not have artificial monopolies, and the judicial system already has a certain independence ", Melkumyan stressed.
The delegate also noted that the application of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership between Armenia and the EU (CEPA) will be of great importance for the country. According to Melkumyan, in this agreement, in addition to political and legal norms, the economic component is also fixed, which will increase the trade turnover between Armenia and the EU, fully using the GSP + system. Melkumyan also stressed that, unfortunately, social tension is not decreasing throughout the world and the level of poor and unemployed people is very high. "What is the most effective way to overcome them? I think the most effective is the support of the people and the political will. In our country, these two factors seem to be present. In other words, we have a chance to overcome the above problems an time will show how long it wil llast", Melkumyan concluded.
