ArmInfo. Former Armenian Defense Minister Mikael Harutyunyan, accused in the March 1, 2008 case of overthrowing the constitutional order and hiding from the investigation in Russia, is a citizen of the Russian Federation. This was answered to the corresponding request of the Special Investigation Service of Armenia from the authorized structures of Russia.
As SIS RA told ArmInfo, the Service sent another request to the Russian side in order to clarify exactly when Harutyunyan received Russian citizenship.
To note, the process of ascertaining the citizenship of Harutyunyan lasts for several months. The SIS for a long time could not officially find out whether Harutyunyan is a citizen of the Russian Federation.
