ArmInfo. The tariff for Russian gas exported to Armenia is likely to rise from January 1, 2018. Political analyst Suren Sargsyan stated this at a press conference.
At the same time, he predicted that, like in the times of the past authorities of Armenia, this time the tariff will be raised in spring or in summer so that the population does not immediately feel the negative consequences of this. "I think, like the previous authorities, Pashinyan will ask Russia to delay the tariff increase until spring. Although, it is possible that Russia may refuse this time," the expert said, at the same time urging not to consider the issue of gas prices purely to the context of Armenian-Russian relations, since gas exports are one of the most important components of Moscow's foreign policy in its relations with many countries in terms of building global geopolitics in general.
To note, at present, negotiations are being held between Armenia and Russia on the price of gas, since the agreement on which Armenia receives Russian gas at a price of $ 150 per 1000 kBm ends on December 31, 2018. At the same time, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Garegin Baghramyan informed the journalists that until the parties reach an agreement on the price of gas, Armenia will receive blue fuel at the current price.
Earlier, Armenian Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that there is a possibility of lowering the price of Russian gas for Armenia, and he intends to discuss this issue with the Russian leader.
