ArmInfo.The mission of observers from the CIS continues to monitor elections to the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.
On December 6, 2018, the Head of the CIS Observation Mission, First Deputy Chairman of the Commonwealth Executive Committee Viktor Guminsky met with the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Mukuchyan in Yerevan. The parties discussed issues related to the ongoing election campaign. In particular, Viktor Guminsky informed Tigran Mukuchyan about the composition and work of the Mission. He reported that short-term observers from the CIS began to arrive in Armenia. They will be given instructions on how to work and on the specifics of the electoral legislation, after which they will disperse to the regions of Armenia. It is planned that the monitoring of the voting process will be conducted in all constituencies.
In turn, the head of the CEC of Armenia spoke about the features of the election campaign, taking into account the tight deadlines. After the meeting with the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Armenia, the Head of the CIS Observation Mission spoke to the media. The election was also discussed at a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Ashot Hovakimian. Viktor Guminsky informed about the activities of the CIS Observation Mission and thanked for the favorable conditions for observation, as well as assistance provided in the framework of the legislation, in the work of the Mission. The Mission will present its findings and assessments on the results of the observation of the extraordinary elections in the final document.
