ArmInfo. The campaign for parliamentary elections in Armenia is calm, but the facts of hatred have been recorded. This was announced at a press conference by the head of the Observer Mission of the European Network of Election Monitoring Organizations (ENEMO), Zlatko Vujovic.
At the same time, he assured that in these elections, the Central Election Commission of Armenia is working efficiently and transparently. Despite this, the CEC did not provide ENEMO with the number of international organizations and the number of their election observers. According to him, the election campaign is going on in a peaceful environment, although there were still minor violations.
"There were cases of manifestations of hatred. But compared to previous elections, we noticed a significant decrease in the use of administrative resources," the observer assured. At the same time, he stressed that, for example, the leader of the "My step" bloc, Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan voiced statements during the campaign that could be perceived as a threat.
Nevertheless, according to him, all these manifestations of hatred are much more insignificant than similar facts in many more democratic countries. According to Vujovic, they were "pleasantly surprised" by the calm progress of the campaign as a whole.
In total, about 70 observers are involved in the elections from the Mission; they will monitor 1/5 of the polling stations. The mission began its activities in Armenia (Kapan, Yerevan, Gyumri and Ijevan) from November 12 and will remain in Armenia for another 6 weeks after the elections. In the elections, they plan to monitor 450 sites, which is about 22% of the total. A month after the election, they will present the final results of the observation.
