Church responds to Pashinyan

ArmInfo.The church has never been an appendage of power.  This was stated by Head of Information Service of the Mother See of Holy Echmiadzin, Priest  Vahram Melikyan, commenting on the statement of the Acting Prime  Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan that "the Republican Party speaks  about traditional values, however, the church has never been so  compromised as during the RPA's rule. Moreover, the church was an  appendage of power".

"It should be noted that the Church has always served to the benefit  and strengthening of the Armenian statehood, and for the sake of a  bright and secure future of the nation. The church has never  considered serving the people in a political context. During the  formation of relations with state and public structures, as well as  national and political forces, the Church has always been guided by  the goal of working for the welfare of the nation. It is regrettable  that this issue is regularly circulated, forming misconceptions among  our people. It is also regrettable that this can be manipulated  during the election campaign, "said the head of the information  service of the Mother See of Holy Echmiadzin.
